To create cohesive and meaningful visual materials for the organization’s production, I designed cast and board merchandise and contributed to the development of program booklets. Drawing inspiration from the story of the Lumad people, I incorporated traditional patterns and symbolic elements from the skit to reflect its cultural themes and strengthen the connection between the production’s narrative and visual identity.

PILIPINO CULTURAL NIGHT 38: KATOTOHANAN

PCN (Pilipino Cultural Night) is an annual event held at California State University, Long Beach, celebrating Filipino culture through traditional dances, music, and theatrical performances. The 38th edition of the show, Katotohanan (“Truth”), tells the story of the Lumad, Indigenous communities in the Philippines, highlighting their cultural identity and ongoing struggles. As one of the program coordinators, I helped bring the production to life through the creation of cast and board merchandise, along with program booklets that featured visual references to the story and its cultural significance

RESEARCH AND INSPIRATION

Woodblock prints, linocuts, and other printmaking styles have long been associated with activist art because of their bold, expressive, and handmade qualities. We incorporated this into the logo to emulate that tradition and emphasize the story's connection to political and social justice issues in the Philippines. Below are some references used in the ideation of the logo.
